Goal-Setting Guidelines For Your Fitness Marketing Plan

Goal-setting is an important part of any person’s life and especially important when you are running a business of any kind. These principles apply across all industries. When goal-setting for your fitness marketing plan, it’s important to follow proper goal-setting methods so that you can propel your business ahead to where you want to be. Goal-setting is a process which involves writing down your plans, reviewing what it’s going to take to achieve them, what kinds of obstacles you may encounter, and how to overcome those challenges. A written plan of action is imperative, and will help you get your goals into your done list.

The first step for goal-setting within your fitness marketing plan is to set short-term, mid-term, and long-term goals. For example, short term could be 1 week or 3 weeks, mid-term could be 3 months, and long-term, one year. You can adjust this to meet your needs. Long-term goals are also good for multi-year timeframes. Your goal should be written down. This is the most important part. It needs to be written down and very specific. It must be measurable and realistic. To review, write multi-termed goals that are specific, measurable, and realistic. Make sure you write down your goal dates as well. You can always adjust these later as necessary.

The next section of setting goals for your fitness marketing plan involves writing out how to accomplish your goals, and what kinds of problems you may encounter. First, write down beside each goal what types of obstacles you may encounter. This could be anything from internal issues like procrastination to external issues, such as time or money obstacles. Next, brainstorm about what you can do to overcome or work around each of the obstacles. Write those down too. Finally, you want to write down action steps to take daily, weekly, or monthly that will naturally take you in the direction of your goal.

Finally, the last step in goal-setting for your fitness marketing plan is implementation. Taking the daily steps of action you have outlined for yourself to market your fitness business is absolutely the key to getting your goals accomplished. This is often where people stumble, but this is where you have to figure out how you will remember to take each step. Some people set reminders in their mobile devices; some may hang their goals and/or action steps around to be seen regularly. Whatever you choose, if it works for you, it’s the right thing to do.
